Chester has made one substitute appearance for Man United
Peterborough United have signed Manchester United defender James Chester on a month's loan.
The deal comes after Posh manager Darren Ferguson revealed that Welshman Craig Morgan will be out for two weeks with a toe injury.
Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He's got a good spring, very competitive, quick enough and comfortable on the ball.
"He'll do us no problem. It'll be a good experience for the boy."
Chester, 20, made his debut for United as a substitute in the Carling Cup semi-final against Derby.
Peterborough are also without centre-half Chris Westwood who is out on loan at Cheltenham.
Ferguson added that he had yet to make a decision on whether Chester's stay would be lengthened.
He said: "It depends how he does. If he comes in and does well we may extend it. It's unfortunate that Craig's got injured but it gives James an opportunity."
